Numeric Reasoning Test: Number Patterns Without Panic

Numeric reasoning is not only about math. In many IQ-style tests, the real task is finding the rule behind the numbers.

Start with simple differences

Check whether the numbers add, subtract, multiply, divide, alternate, or combine two rules. Many sequences become obvious once you write the differences.

Watch for alternating patterns

A sequence may use one rule for every other number. If the direct pattern does not work, split the sequence into odd and even positions.

Why numeric questions are valuable

They reveal how quickly someone can test a rule, reject it, and try another without getting stuck.
